FALL 2011 UPDATE

91.1 is dead. We're no longer on the Nashville airwaves. We fought for our rights, VSC played it dirty. Well even though some are suggesting there's still a chance to actually get WRVU back on air, we got nothing to do but make the best out of what we have.

Beginning tomorrow, September 1st 2011, WRVU will officially start broadcasting from HD radio. A new wrvu.org site is up, and online streaming will continue as it was. Another crucial change beginning from this semester is that if you miss a show you liked, you won't be able to just go to wrvu.org and listen to the recorded archives. For this show, I post my playlists after every show, I mean if you care.

Okay, so the fall season at WRVU officially begins tomorrow. Due to many reasons including the loss of the FM signal, I've decided to end Myths of the Near Future; I'm not quitting WRVU, I'll just be doing a different show. After three semesters and over 30 great shows, with the changes in the station, I thought it was also a time for me to change. The new show is called 'Atlantis to Interzone' , it's going to be an hour-long show focusing mainly on the international artists, mostly the new, independent, promising, up-and-coming ones, but the show will also contain a good amount of influential international artists and bands from the past. And yes, no genre limitations. I've been playing international acts on my shows, but I just wanted to solely focus on them, and make a more specialized show. We will be listening some of the best new music coming out of Brazil, Australia, Turkey, France, Spain, Japan, Sweden and many more countries.

Atlantis to Interzone will 'air' (not literally, unfortunately), every Friday on 8PM CST, beginning from this Friday, September 2nd 2011, till early December 2011. So if you used to like Myths of the Near Future, I hope you'll like this one too, there isn't going to be too much of a deviation in the sound of the show. So every Friday, @ 8PM CST, go to wrvu.org and stream it live.

Excited to be back on this Friday

Cheers,

DJ Ike
