...News...

Since the 'Myths of the Future' will be off the air till September, I don't know how many people will actually be following the blog, but still I'll have things to share over the next few months, writing about music I think you should give a listen to, and etcetera..

Meanwhile, I'd like to note two upcoming releases that I've heard about past week, and am already highly anticipating them.

Ernest Greene

First of, the Georgia-based "chill-wave" outfit Washed Out, a.k.a. Ernest Greene, recently signed to the SubPop records. For various reasons SubPop is a label which I really appreciate, so them signing Greene was a particularly interesting move for me. Washed Out has so much potential, he already has a substantial following, and we'll probably see this guy touring Europe and eventually the world in the coming months/years. Greene turns simple musical ideas into elegant dream pop ballads with a production that has a rusty, retro quality to it. Washed Out's debut Within and Without is set to be released on July, so watch out.

Justin Vernon of Bon Iver

Another exciting upcoming-release-update that arrived in the past week was from Bon Iver.

Apparently the Wisconsin quartet is getting ready to release their sophomore effort, which will be eponymously titled as Bon Iver. It will be released on late June. Considering the critical acclaim of their debut For Emma, Forever Ago expectations are high for this one. Below is the somewhat-teaser video they have released about a month ago, although perhaps highly avant-garde to be called a promotion video.

Alright, that's it for now.. You might wanna check the blog perhaps weekly from now on since I'm aiming to use it more actively over the summer..

Cheers

First of all, Happy Record Store Day everyone! Don't forget to go to your local record store and pick up some exciting new releases..

As you might have noticed, there wasn't a show last night. Next Friday, April 22th, will probably be the last show of this semester, marking the end of Myths Of The Near Future's 3rd season on WRVU. There might be one more show after that week, but that is a real low possibility. I'll be back on air in September.. I'd also like to take this time to thank everyone who tuned in during the past few weeks, and called-in; it really means a lot to me, since the whole point of this is to share good music with you guys.

Some exciting releases are coming up, here are few that caught my eye:

April

Gorillaz - The Fall (CD Release)

May

Architecture in Helsinki - Moment Bends
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Moby - Destroyed
Death Cab For Cutie - Codes and Keys

These being said, I've just discovered this; http://en.blackxslivesound.com/ , a collaboration between La Blogotheque and Paco Rabanne (yes, the perfume), which carries the Blogotheque's concept to the international level in countries such as Mexico, Spain, France, Turkey, and Japan, to explore their vibrant local music scenes. Great way to discover some new music!
Here's a video of Gevende, the Turkish band which I've been spinning at some of my shows, and the Spanish band Mujeres, from Barcelona.
